The 22nd November 2024 marks  the 1 year anniversary of Olly's return to kennels... this means he has been searching for a new home for 365 days 🙁 Thankfully he is now in a foster home no longer having to endure kennels but it's only temporary so we are hoping we can find him his long awaited forever home!!!

We originally had Olly after his racing days were over and he was starting his retirement, we were hoping that he found a home as quickly as he did before as he wasn't a fan of kennels (especially having a taste of domesticated living... not to mention finding his love of sofas!) but sadly days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months, with Olly's decline in kennels we thankfully had an opening in one of our lovely foster homes which is where he has been ever since.

This is what Olly's lovely foster owners have to say about him;
"Olly is a beautiful boy who is affectionate and easy to look after.
He listens. He knows sit (he actually lies down), wait (to cross roads and for his food), come, drop, bed, no. Olly goes on his bed while we're eating, usually after an initial sniff or two of the table.
He has a cheeky side. Initially he picked up things that were not his when he wanted attention. We started by swapping for treats but he rarely picks up anything now and he'll drop when asked. Although he does like to destroy the odd paper bag.
He likes his zoomies - flat-out around the dog park, playing with a squeaky toy he can throw around or chasing a tennis ball. Toys need to be very robust!
He is curious and sticks his long nose into any cupboard, box or surface.
He doesn't bark very much but when he does it's usually just a couple of shouts for attention (food, cuddles or play).
He loves a sofa and a sleep. Usual routine is breakfast, sleep, walk, sleep, play/walk, tea, sleep, walk, sleep.
Walks are anything from 20 to 60 mins. He's not keen on rain but loves a good sniff and explore.
He usually ignores other dogs but if they come rushing toward him he can bark and dance/jump around.
Very interested in cats and squirrels and sometimes barks and lunges toward them.
He loves to say hello to people and make new friends.
We've taken him to cafes and pubs. He'll settle well on the floor once he's had a look around.
He does get a bit spooked (bit of a jump, looks around) by odd noises. He doesn't like the look or sound of a hoover.
All in all, he is a gorgeous boy and lovely to have in our home."

We are ideally looking for a home with no or older children as his previous owners have told us he could be a little possessive with high value items but they worked really hard to combat this and his fosterers have made a great deal of improvement. Olly commendably gives ample warning if he isn't happy about a person taking the item from him but as above he now rarely picks up items and drops them on command so his possession is essentially a thing of the past but any new owner will just need to be aware in case he tries to push his luck when settling into his new home.

In the home Olly is as relaxed as they come, opting to spend the majority of the day lazing around snoozing, he is housetrained, he travels really well, he is super affectionate and friendly with everyone he meets... his only downside in the home is that he is counter height so no food left on the side is safe from his nose & stomach.

Overall Olly is a gorgeous boy who deserves another chance and will no doubt make someone a very lucky owner to have him.
