Little Mr Dougie has come into us from another rescue where sadly we have no information on his former life but he has now finished his assessment passing with gold stars all round!
At first Dougie can be a little shy but it doesn't take long for him to decide that he'd quite like a cuddle delicately putting his paws on your knee standing on his hind legs for a fuss, he is very gentle 🙂
When he first arrived he was a little unsure about the concept and purpose of walks but he is now figuring out that walks are fun, at the moment he isn't keen on walking for more then 15-20 minutes a time but we think the more he comes on in confidence and discovers his love of walking he may well enjoy longer walks!
Dougie does love other dogs, he loves sharing his walks with them and saying hello to them all however he can be a bit overwhelmed if they are too full on or over the top so if he were to live with another dog he would benefit a dog similar to his calmer more gentle nature and his size.
We think that Dougie would benefit some dog training classes as aside from an coincidental 'sit' he doesn't have any basic commands but he so wants to be told he is a good boy so hopefully once he's got his brain engaged he will pick everything up with ease sitting and lying down on command in no time.
We have found Dougie has had some anxieties having his lead on, we think it may be related to his nerves & small stature meaning people have to lean over him to clip him up but once he has a bond/trust with you he lets you do it with ease but for this reason we are looking for a child free home so he's not put in any similar positions.
Dougie really is a little sweetie, he has such an endearing nature!
