Ideal Home

We are so pleased to finally say Mr C is ready to find himself a new home!!! Mr C came into us back in November as a welfare case, he was emaciated, barely able to stand let alone walk and was covered in open wounds and sores.

Thankfully his wounds are now healing, and he is no longer underweight he has gained over 20kg however sadly his tail didn't heal with the skin starting to granulate so we had no other option but to amputate it - not that it's bothered him in the slightest!

Mr C really has been through the mill, evidently suffered an enormous amount of neglect then coming into kennels, having his wounds regularly looked at/cleaned/redressed, going to the vets countless times, being poked, prodded and injected, a barrage of medication, ointments, lotions and potions yet despite it all his tail has never ever stopped wagging, his temperament has never faltered and he is the happiest most loving boy you could meet.

Now he has gained all his weight back and is in a much healthier way. We had started on short frequent walks so as not to do too much but build on what little muscle he had. We have built up to longer walks and now he is fighting fit and back to full strength. He definitely loves to be out and about and being social. Likes his walks and being a young lad we are sure he wants to make up on lost time going on lots of adventures and see the world. As we've got to know him over time we don't feel he's likely to be a running companion or necessarily hiking mountains on a daily basis bless him. He will have the odd run about and zoomie but loves nothing better than cuddles and lying down chewing a toy.

Due to Mr C's neglect and evident starvation he is a super food motivated dog, which usually works well for training but at first it was a bit too much of an overload as he was constantly looking for the treat desperate for it rather than listening to what you were asking. He was also lacking in manners around food, as soon as he saw his bowl his head was in and scoffing before it was put on the floor. Thankfully he has no food aggression whatsoever just unable to contain himself but we can't really blame him. Hopefully now he will realises that he will never miss a meal again and his new owner can continue the work we've started with his patience and waiting around food. He now has grasped sit and will wait for you to put his bowl down and likewise will sit and wait for a treat. For this reason we are ideally looking for a home with no young children because he will absolutely has the potential to take any food from their hands and plates, again with no malice but we don't want any upset children missing their snacks!

On the lead he does walk well, he can be strong at times and get excited to get to a really good sniff so lead work will be needed in his new home. We have also found that he is good with other dogs but until he is all healed and has manners with food we would suggest him being best suited as the only dog in the home, just to avoid any rivalry over stray treats etc, and not to mention he definitely deserves the TLC and undivided attention of his very own family.

We can't stress enough how good Mr C has been, he is a big lovable doofus who can be a bit like a bull in a china shop but he has a heart of gold, hopefully we can make 2025 his year with the most paw-fect forever and ever home!
